I am by training and nature a film photographer.
It was that “buzz” one got waiting the the film to develop - the white printing paper to become your image in the darkroom, that great shutter click of a mechanical film camera.
So despite working with digital cameras from the start - I never actually allowed them in my work until 2006. A year later - with a year out from other commitments I went out looking for an excuse to get to know digital.
That became William David photographic projects, and from small beginnings it began to find it’s own identity and purpose.
I have always loved theatre and drama, and in my time have been involved in many aspects of the entertainment industry. I actually find actors and performers great people to be with - controlled and focused in their work, and infectious in their enthusiasm.
Another area of work and interest over the years has been child and youth development and opportunity. In particular those who can often be disadvantaged by a lack of understanding of autism and allied development and social conditions. This is how The Halfling project came into being - and whilst it is much more than a photographic work - photography plays a major role.
This website reflects the use of photography in my current work, and stretching the point a little video and audio work too.
My work is designed to be flexible and I am quite happy to adjust it to the demands and experience that it brings.
